'Tyto Online' is an online multiplayer role-playing game designed to teach STEM subjects to students. The game takes place in the year 2042, shortly after environmental destruction has forced a total evacuation from the planet Earth. Players arrive on a distant colonized planet as evacuees and are welcomed into the vibrant and scientifically-focused community of Espeth, home of the illustrious Tyto Academy. Players are tasked with helping Tyto run experiments, care for Earth's last surviving plants and animals in biodomes, and gather data that may one day help restore Earth.
As Creative Director (and a co-founder of Immersed Games, the studio publishing 'Tyto Online' and all related games) I was responsible for overseeing the design and creation of all 2D and 3D art, music, and sound design for the game. I personally created or co-created all of the game's dialogue. I created all of the game lore, including the gameworld's history, characters, and all other worldbuilding tasks, all the way down to the reproductive methods of Ovonian trees. (This type of granular focus matters for an educational game.)
'Tyto Online' is an ongoing project with new content being released each month. I am currently head of the art and game design teams, meaning that I am responsible for the research and development of all educational quests and new game mechanics, as well as ensuring that the art and game design teams are able to work together to create a cohesive product smoothly and efficiently.
